Bea Valdes has created this chic tote bag using T'nalak fabric, masterfully combining both form and function. T'nalak is an indigenous, hand weaving tradition from the Philippines. It's believed to represent patterns and designs dreamt by the weavers, who are fittingly referred to as 'dream weavers'.
Bea Valdes established her workshop in 2004 with the vision to design pieces that would ultimately be regarded as "Art to Wear". Since then, the designer whose career began in interiors, has expanded into creating stunning beaded accessories, objects, and large-scale art installations. Her popularity among stylish women and collectors around the globe continues to surge. Today, Bea remains faithful to her creative process by working in her Manila-based atelier with a community of local artisans who constantly push the boundaries of existing design, creating pieces which go beyond fashion - these are keepsakes and objects that have a life beyond a season, to be passed on as precious heirlooms from one generation to the next.
The brand's narrative has always been about the search for timelessness - and the continued exploration of how craft endures. Bea Valdes searches for the meaningful relationships between objects and their makers, their menders, their minders - the human stories as told through the manipulation of materials, and through gestures of design. As she often says, they are stringing moments into momentum.
