Loved Clothes Last: How to Care for Your Office Wear

Loved Clothes Last: How to Care for Your Office Wear

We've partnered with Jeeves, London's finest dry cleaners, with locations around the world including New York, to give you tips on how to care for your office wear.

As we start to bring back office wear outfits into our wardrobe rotation, here are some tips to make your work pieces last longer.

Coffee, Deodorant and Lipstick Stain Removal

  • Many of us love coffee, but it's inevitable to get a stain (or two) on our outfits. The easiest remedy is to treat the stain with a clean, damp towel.
  • Be careful to blot and NOT rub the spot to take out majority of the stain.
  • Then, clean the stain as the care label recommends as soon as you can.
  • Running to an office meeting and you find a deodorant or lipstick stain on your top that you need to remove quickly? You should also blot the spot with a clean, damp toward to remove most of the stain.

Yellow Discolouration

  • Hydrogen Peroxide is the best solution to prevent yellowing around the collar and underarms of your white tops. Spray the solution and let the garment dry naturally in open air.

Additional Tips:

  • Suits and blazers can complete an office look. To ensure your loved blazer lasts, depending on where you wear it to and how much sweat it accumulates, washing it every 4-5 wears is ideal.
  • For items made of leather, leather conditioner will help keep your leather healthy and looking fabulous all year round.
  • Ballpens and markers are office staples but so are accidental ink stains. Dabbing the ink stain with alcohol (make sure you dab it, do not rub) is an easy fix. However, once you have the time, it's best to bring it to your local Jeeves for professional cleaning.
  • If you need an outfit as soon as possible and don't have enough time to head to the dry cleaners, always check the care label closely for alternative washing instructions. However, whenever possible, we still recommend sending the garment to professional cleaning services, especially dry-clean only clothes.
  • The dry-cleaning process at Jeeves includes special attention during cleaning, that includes garment inspection to ensure soil marks are noted appropriately.

As professional women, we need to take responsibility for our daily choices. Commit to buying less, limit your outfits per day, and invest in pieces that last longer.
